Stephen spent years playing private shows — the Monaco Grand Prix, private birthdays, rooms full of people who could buy almost anything they wanted. This story is about one of them, and it is the clearest answer he gives to the question everyone asks in the chat: am I too old for this?

He was playing for a woman he describes as one of the richest in the world. Between songs she told him what she had told nobody: I have always wanted to play the piano. Not as a hobby she had abandoned. As a thing she had wanted her whole life and believed was closed to her.
